This textbook is the second of seven proposed volumes regarding the 450-year history of the keyboard sonata. Volume 1 was an introduction to the entire subject. This volume covers the Baroque Ear in music when the harpsichord was the predominant keyboard instrument. The early keyboard music composed in Italy, Germany, and Austria is the major focus of the text, with special emphasis on the sonatas of the Italian Baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti.
