Runaway Ragtime

Runaway Ragtime is a compilation of 10 intermediate ragtime and march pieces that can be learned by pianists of varying skill levels. All the pieces in the book are written in the same key of F# (for the most part), and so provide a great avenue for practicing common chords and notes in that scale. While the pieces do have the classic ragtime wide leaps in the left hand and fast “ragged” rhythms of the right hand, they are specifically crafted to be easy to play once the base key is picked up. The goal of this book is to present some pieces that are fun to play. This provides a springboard to improvise and compose your own pieces in this key, and expand your ability to express yourself on the piano by playing the ragtime music that we all love.
