More Than Just Basketball: The El Retiro Park Story

This is a story of how a small group of friends started a weekly basketball game that turned into a phenomenon which changed the lives of dozens of men over the course of forty years. It chronicles the story of how we stumbled into building a fraternity of men that came together for each other, supported each other and loved each other. Being a part of a group of people you trust, who support you and whom you support, brought together by the joy of a common hobby made a big difference in the lives of many men over a forty year period. It’s a simple concept, readily acceptable to a large percentage of men that might even be a model that can be widely duplicated. It worked for us. This is how we did it, how we lived it and how we all turned out as a result of it.
