Danielle Gardens, a twenty-four-year-old artist from Brandsend, Texas, has the ability to lucidly dream. After falling asleep, she often revisits a small park petrified in a perpetual autumn. Once, the shelter of her peaceful park allowed her to reflect on the mistakes of her past in her true life. Specifically, those she made with her first love Caleb Walker. However, now Caleb seems to be appearing more often than usual, carrying all her painful memories with him. Including, how leaving him led to an abusive relationship with a man named, Eric.
As another seemingly normal dream begins, she and Caleb notice a rip in the sky of her perfect world. Emboldened by her knowledge that it’s all just a dream, Danielle decided to travel through the opening and discovers a wonder British soldier, Fletcher Lewis Knight, trapped within a PTSD-driven nightmare. Fletcher’s mental demons manifest as preying dragons, laying in wait on the fringes of his dream under a blood-red sky and viridescent moon–a twisted picture of the last moments he can recall.
Danielle, troubled by what she has seen, vows to find a way to stop the nightmares and teach Fletcher to protect himself by ludicdly dreaming.
