A young man migrates from the glorified colony of Puerto Rico to the mainland US to flee a dysfunctional domestic, intent on becoming a Catholic priest. The monastery turns out to be everything but the spiritual oasis he hoped for. When he leaves the religious life, another form of abusive, racist tyranny awaits him.
