Max Alvis was an unremarkable assistant prosecutor with Los Angeles County Major Crimes unit when his boss, District Attorney Sam Gak, assigned him to prosecute Touchdown Tommy Trudeau, a retired wealthy and popular former NFL running back who had just been charged with the murder of his wife, Natalie. Trudeau’s attorney, Thad Jackson, claimed his client was only charged for the murder by an inherently racist L.A.Police Department because Trudeau is black and his wife was white, setting up a volatile and polarizing trial. Watching it all from his off-the-grid compound in rural Idaho is avowed racist William Henry Jergens, who is hellbent on ensuring that the trial’s outcome becomes a catalyst for a national awakening of white supremacy.
