DEVOTION

It’s February 1972 at Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base when Captain Mitch d’Capua steps off of a C-141 Starlifter transport and into the middle of the America’s clandestine, but not so secret war in the Kingdom of Laos. For the next year, he’ll be assigned to the 7th Airborne Command & Control Squadron and, from his lofty perch above the jungle, Mitch will do everything in his power to stem the flow of the communist’s supplies along the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail and into the fight in South Vietnam while keeping the CIA base at Pakse from being overrun.
Married only four months before an unexpected change in orders sends him packing from the University of Texas into combat, neither Mitch nor his wife Sharon are prepared for the change. When Mitch innocently sends his new bride a photograph of his 19 year-old hooch girl, Joi, all hell breaks loose and Mitch winds up with more on his mind than the North Vietnamese Army. This is a story not only of the war we’ve seen, but the one we haven’t. The drug trade, white slavers, corruption, romance, blackmail, political expediency, and adultery all combine to challenge the very concepts of honor and devotion.
