“And I Will Find My Way: Poems from Different Decades” is a first collection of poems written by Russian American actor Oleg Vidov. It was published posthumously by his wife Joan Borsten Vidov with the help of his son Sergei Vidov and his daughter-in-law Anya Ovdienko Vidov.
Oleg was a professional actor and film director. He was not a professional poet, but for years he wrote poetry that he delighted in sharing with appreciative fans and friends, and they always clamored for more and urged him to publish his writings. In his autobiography, Oleg recalls: “I learned to write poetry to get rid of some problems and difficulties. If I’m offended, I’ll write a poem, and so I’m released. I advise all people to write – poetry, prose, diaries. Writing is the purification from a negative. All my life during strong emotional experiences, I sat down and wrote poetry. To me, it always helps. By the way, I recommend giving written expression to pain, or to a memory of some pleasant moments in life, even in just a few lines – this is very important for each of us.”
This book was published with the help of Alexander Polovets, Alexander Grich, and the Bulat Okudzhava USA Cultural Fund. The concept, artwork, and design of the book were created by the brilliant artist Leonid Katsnelson. We hope that this volume will bring inspiration and joy to its readers.
All proceeds from the sale of the book, excluding shipping and handling, will be used to complete production of the documentary: The Oleg Vidov Story. To learn more and to hear his poetry recited by Russian actors living in Los Angeles, visit www.olegvidov.com.
