29 Men of the Fitz. The Tragedy of the Edmunds Fitzgerald

Author: Lyndon Morgan
ISBN: 979-8-90119-613-7

The book details the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald on November 10th, 1975. It examines the situation from the crew’s perspective, having interviewed some of the family members who are still alive, thus providing a unique perspective. The author has a degree in engineering, yet also writes books and performs in a music group. This lends itself to a very different type of book, incorporating engineering calculations to dispel some of the myths associated with sinking, uses predicted weather conditions from NOA, has specific graphics never shown before, but also includes four songs written by the author and David Weiss, his longtime friend, played using QR codes embedded in the book. It also contains a Google Earth map of the three main boats involved in the sinking: The Fitz, The Anderson, and The Sykes. The paths of each boat, along with their locations at any given time, are shown with approximately 50 markers. This is a first!!

This latest work by the author marks a powerefull shift in storytelling from his previous works: The Cello, and Ruby Ring, which were both characterized by intimate psychological suspense. This book has a strong historical narrative. Drawing from extensive research and using vivid prose the author delivers a deeply human account of the tragedy.
