Elapsing into Love

To many, the world appeared to be nearing collapse. Thousands were dying each day at the hands of humanity itself, while nations fought over dwindling oil reserves, indifferent to the lives lost in pursuit of power. People were routinely deceived, exploited, and abused by both their governments and those living beside them. As society’s elites descended into increasingly destructive lifestyles, the unchecked use of fossil fuels continued to poison the planet. Ice caps melted, spilling their fresh water into rising oceans, and the Earth slowly deteriorated under the collective weight of human neglect.

Harvey understood that human beings were the root of most of these problems, yet he felt powerless to change them. His own life was already consumed by relentless turmoil, leaving him to wonder how anyone could fix themselves when the world itself was unraveling. After leaving Burlington College, he sought refuge in the quiet isolation of Vermont’s Green Mountains. Strapping on his backpack, Harvey could not have known that this single journey along the Appalachian Trail would alter his life forever. By the time it ended, his world would never be the same.
