Fire and Ice

Prior to his musicals going into rehearsal, famed West End producer/director, Cyril Montrose, always invites the principal artists of the production to join him at his country estate for a working weekend. This year he extends the invitation to legendary Hollywood gossip columnist, Bery Cross, who is only too happy to accept, that is until one of the party is murdered. When the police dismiss Beryl’s insights into the case, she decides to conduct her own investigation, relying on the tricks of the trade of her former profession. Her knowledge of police procedure may be limited to what she has gleaned from the movies, but she has honed her investigative skills over a lifetime and does what Scotland Yard cannot. She solves the case. A gossip columnist may not be as respectable a profession as a detective, she says, but a snoop’s a snoop!
