Ben, a microbiology professor nearing retirement, is troubled by strange visions of a mysterious Otherworld that he cannot fully understand. When one of these weird experiences turns out frighteningly real, he suspects he may have stumbled upon something sinister. As he tries to alert people to his discoveries, he finds his concerns dismissed as the ramblings of an elderly academic who seems to be losing his grip on reality.

This does not deter the professor. Determined to drill down to the truth, Ben teams up with his old friend Minnie, a psychiatrist, and a new companion, Jake, a magician. Together, they uncover a dark conspiracy that poses a threat to all of humanity. Time is running out—will they be able to stop this evil plan before they fall victim to it themselves?
