The Orb

A private and secretive organization known as the Collective had existed for almost 40 years, quietly advancing human knowledge in science and mathematics. Much of their work was deemed far too advanced for public disclosure, and the group wisely withheld many of its discoveries from publication, uncertain of the potential impact on a fragile world.

Steve Harris was a competent young scientist, struggling in a dead-end job and a depressing existence after the untimely death of his parents. An angry outburst after years of mistreatment landed him unemployed, and subsequently into the Collective. What followed was a series of rapidly changing events, in stark contrast to his previously mundane existence, which thrust him directly into a battle between good and evil. Whether his new life was better than his old one was uncertain, and he would eventually discover that the future was not quite what he thought it would be.
