Lana Taylor, young, ambitious, and talented but a little too assertive and suspicious for her own good, is a former NYC police officer who left the force to open her own private detective agency. Lana is hired by a wealthy businessman to find his runaway daughter, Jeni.

The search for Jeni leads to the mysterious town of Desert Mesa, Arizona, located in Arizona’s desolate Sonoran Desert. Strangely, whenever Lana mentions Jeni, she is confronted by a wall of silence, fear, and even hostility from the townspeople, who are hiding something that Lana is determined to expose.

Lana is immediately attracted to the handsome and accommodating town sheriff, Derek Reeves. But she soon wonders if her romantic dalliance is true love or if the sheriff is using her to thwart her investigation. And what of the mysterious old gentlemen running a secret mining operation who frighten even the toughest of the town men?

Should Lana have taken the advice of the wise, old Native American woman, Sara Blackwater, who warned, “There is a curse on Desert Mesa and anyone who enters it is doomed. Whomever you are looking for is probably either dead or better off dead. Don’t go near the town. I’m warning you.”
