Prior to the dawn of the Millennium following the birth of the Savior a young shepherd boy was one of those in the fields near Bethlehem when an angel appeared declaring the birth of the Messiah. He witnessed the hosts of heaven appearing and singing praises for this new King of Kings.

As this vision ended, the shepherds in the field followed the Star of Bethlehem to the humble abode of Joseph and Mary in the Stable.
There they found this babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in the manger. This young shepherd boy wanted to hold this little babe in his arms but wasn’t sure how to ask. Mary noticing his quandary, motioned to her new young friend, to come and sit by her. As he did, she picked up the babe from within the confines of the manger and laid him into the awaiting young arms.
He was elated!

He was holding the Messiah, whom the Angel had heralded to those in the fields. Ever so softly, he said, “Shalom, it is my honor to meet you.”

The shepherd boy then gazed up into the moist eyes of Mary, with a big grin on his face. She acknowledged his excitement. Then, quietly, he inquired of the young mother, “Is this the Messiah, the others have been talking of?” Mary nodded her head affirmatively and said whispering in his ear, “He is the Son of God, Savior and the Redeemer of the world,”

After this visit to the stable in Bethlehem, nearly 30 years would pass. What a surprise it was when the two of them became reacquainted again.

Life was never the same for this shepherd boy after his becoming reacquainted with, “his old friend.” He would witness many miracles of healing of the sick, feeding of the five thousand and so many more. During the next three years he would witness much

His future was unfolded to him by the resurrected Lord and with a willing heart, he readily accepted knowing that he would need to move forward . . . . one day at a time.
