The Longest Way Home

Personal tragedy is always something that either makes us stronger or takes us over and devours our lives. In 1989 at the age of just 21, I was propelled into a world of pain, angst, and sheer horror. With a promising career, a fiancée, and a quite pleasant life in Lilydale, Melbourne, it was all taken away from me in an instant. My struggle to come to terms with what was happening to me had begun.

How I had decided to deal with my situation and the support of my family and friends is what got me through. This book is about my life during those times. The process of getting the right mindset and not taking the easy option and giving up.
I started writing this book in 1989, more so as a chronicle of what was happening to me. As I get older, I realise that what I feel is that I have managed reasonably well with the adversity and stayed focused on getting on with life. I still have episodes of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the accident has no doubt changed my life forever. One thing is for sure though, it’s been an awesome character-building exercise and has definitely made me a stronger person. I hope you enjoy reading this book as I tell the story, which to me was “The Longest Way Home”.
